The album’s first single, “TWINS (Knock Out)” was a rock-influenced release, and also a cover of the British boy band, Triple Eight. Dancing like eagles, the dance choreography arranged for the song became warmly welcomed and extremely popular. The follow-up single, “Miracle”, was a bubblegum pop song. Like the song itself, the dance choreography for the single was also simpler and softer. The rest of the tracks in their first studio album, mainly consisted of pop love ballads and also R&B-influenced dance tracks with rap and fast drum beats.The main theme involved in the album are about situations that are related to love or trust. Soothing ballads like “You are the one” and “So I” intends a positive environment in one’s love relationship. Fast tracks with light-hearted melodies like “Miracle” and “Way for love” contains bubblegum pop lyrics with positive views of love and trust. However, fast, rap-influenced dance tracks like “TWINS (Knock Out)”, “OVER”, “L.O.V.E”, etc. usually gives in negative connotations about love and relationships. For example, in “OVER”, the lyrics hovers around a confident persistence after a relationship breakup. “L.O.V.E” involves around a loss of hope and confidence after love was shattered. Likewise, Super Junior’s debut track “TWINS (Knock Out)” revolves around love that was destroyed although the main theme is to encourage one to keep their dignity and courage instead.

~ Super Junior U (Single) 

“U” is the first CD single produced by K-pop boy band, Super Junior. The single topped CD sales charts during the first several weeks after its release on June 7, 2006. U peaked at #1 on the MIAK K-pop album charts and sold over 83,010 units. U has since been Super Junior’s most successful single. Promotional performances for the title song, “U”, did not complete until September 2006. The last general performance for the song was on August 2007 in Japan. Prior to the release of U, a digital single of “U” was available for download on May 25, 2006. The second single, “Endless Moment”, was available on May 29, 2006. “U” exceeded 1.7 million downloads. Three more EPs were released after the debut single in 2007. A Chinese version of the song, “U”, was released in the special Taiwan edition on June 15, 2007. It is said that the Chinese version was produced to further launch their efforts in advancing to the Chinese market.

~ Super Junior Vol.2 – Don’t Don

돈 돈! (Don’t Don) (Literal translation: Money, Money! (Don’t Don)), pronounced as Don Don in Korean, is a play on the words “don,” (Korean: 돈), which means money, and “donda,” (Korean: 돈다), which means to go insane. The title song, also named “Don’t Don,” is produced by SMP (SM Music Performance), with the combination of heavy guitar riffs, fast drums rhythms, electric guitar, a violin solo, and other musical instruments to make the single a grand musical piece. In an effort to promote the world to become a more innocent and magnanimous place to live, the lyrics sends a message about how money, hypocrisy, and the change of society has made the world into a twisted and greedy place to live. Aside the rock-influenced R&B title track, the album will also consist of soft ballads and 80’s style trendy dance songs.The album consists of thirteen tracks and one bonus track. The members Leeteuk, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, and Donghae also co-produced the album, producing lyrics for the dance/pop song, “I am,” composed by Yoon Jongshin. Famous musicians like Yoon Jongshin, Kim Johan, Kim Youngho, Hwang Sungjae, Kim Changhyun, etc. also participated in the production of the album. As usual, aside from the usual dance tracks, the album will also contain at least one bubblegum pop number (“Sapphire Blue”) and one R&B-influenced ballad (“Thank you”).Don’t Don came to stores with thirteen different covers, each cover featuring a different member. Super Junior Sub Groups 小組專輯﹕

Super Junior – K.R.Y  

Super Junior-K.R.Y, created in late 2006, is a trio formed by Super Junior members Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung. The label discovered that these three members developed a particular persona and subsequent fan-base that was separate from the rest of the group, and how they also had similar musical qualities. The label therefore grouped these three members together to perform particular songs to target a particular audience. The members of K.R.Y are amongst the most vocally powerful of the members of Super Junior, and have developed a marketable style as the mournful ballad singers (a style that has proven very popular in recent years, although stagnation in the style’s development is causing it to lose its once fresh evocative power).K.R.Y.’s first official performance was on November 5, 2006 on KBS’s Music Bank and have been showing live performances only ever since. They have participated in the original soundtrack of the tvN drama Hyena with a total of three tracks, including the main theme. The trio also contributed tracks in two more different original soundtracks, one track in Snow Flower’s soundtrack and another track in Billy Jean Look at Me’s soundtrack. Unlike Super Junior’s second sub-unit, Super Junior-T, K.R.Y has not released a single or album, and has only participated in collaboration albums and original soundtracks. It is not sure whether or not the trio will continue to do activities away from the mother group.

Super Junior-Trot (Korean: 슈퍼주니어-트로트), officially known as Super Junior-T (Korean: 슈퍼주니어-T) is the second subgroup of Super Junior formed on February 2007. They specialize in singing trot, an old form of Korean pop music. Rapping bridges are added to express the modern K-pop influence in their music.In early February SM Entertainment made the official announcement of a second subgroup, Super Junior-T. The group released their first radio single on February 23, 2007. A CD single, Rokkugo, was soon released and it topped music charts three days after release. The subgroup’s official debut was on February 25, 2007 performing the title track, “Rokkugo”, and “First Express” (첫차) with famous trot singer Bang Shil Yi. The single’s rankings quickly rose in both Korea and Thailand-based music stations and was number-one on the charts two months later. 花美男連鎖恐怖事件

Twelve members, excluding Kyuhyun who was recovering from a previous car accideent, appeared in the group’s debut film Attack on the Pin-Up Boys premiered on July 26, 2007 in Korea. This is the first film released by SM Pictures, a subsidiary of SM Entertainment. Attack of the Pin-Up Boys was promoted as a high school mystery comedy, where Kibum, the student investigator and narrator of the story, blogs about mysterious consecutive terror attacks that happened in various high schools which made the popular flower boys at Neulparan High School, Siwon, Heechul, and Kang-In, to be expected victims for the next attack.The film did better than expected in box office sales. Despite unexpected success in the box office of the film’s premiere week, the film has failed to attract no more than 100,000 audiences. Nonetheless, SM Pictures is still making an effort to promote the film and to succeed in breaking through the film industry. The company and Super Junior attended the 12th annual Pusan Film Festival on October 4, 2007, and organized an opening ceremony, “SM Night.” Previously, only SidusHQ and Namooactors, two of South Korea’s top film producers, has contributed in the festival’s opening ceremony.A soundtrack was released along with the DVD a month after the film’s national premiere. Super Junior performed “Wonder Boy”, which became the promo single for the film. A solo by Yesung, “Are you ready?” is also featured in the soundtrack.
